Floating solar panels can provide a lot of energy. At the same time, the panels face different weather conditions and hardships. In Den Helder, research agency Solliance Solar Research recently started a trial to test how solar panels resist the elements.

In the Solar @ Sea project, which is being carried out with Endures, Sunrayflex, TNO, Marin, Royal Philips and Avans, a floating solar panel was launched. The test system should provide information and data for a year on the influence of seawater on the lifespan and efficiency of solar panels. During the year, the panel is removed from the water a number of times and analyzed by TNO.
